Class Information at St Edmundsbury Life Saving Club

The club is currently running two main programmes - Rookie Lifeguard (age 8 to 12) and Survive & Save (age 12 to adult). Each is divided into smaller classes as appropriate. In addition, Life Support is taught as part of the Survive & Save programme, while Life Support 3 and the National Rescue Award for Swimming Teachers and Coaches are still available and taught as required. Classes for parents? - see below.

All classes take place on Sundays, in term time only, from 6 pm until 8 pm. Check the dates on our Club Calendar. In general, one hour is spent learning theory and practical skills out of the water, and one hour is spent on pool-based fitness and skills training.

Open water training in the sea at Felixstowe is offered in the summer months, to fulfil part of the programmes for all ages, though this is not compulsory and separate charges may apply.

Class Fees and Membership

Rookies and Survive & Save term fees payable in advance at the start of each term. This fee covers all classes for the whole term and replaces weekly fees.

Anyone wishing to take the Survive & Save exams needs to buy a manual, current cost £20.80 (this also covers the first exam fee).

Don't forget, everyone needs to complete a new membership form at the start of the new year, or as soon as they join the club. Parents are required to sign for under 18s. Life Support Classes for Adults

Something for the parents! Would you like to learn the life support skills that your children are learning, and earn the nationally recognised RLSS Life Support awards? Come and join in for the theory hour, no need to get in the water at all (unless you'd also like to join the Survive & Save class). If there is enough interest, we will start these classes.
